rMenu Getting Better

rMenu now works on IE/Mac 5.0 and 5.2. 5.0 seems to require the user reload the page once to get it working but after that it works flawlessly.
Known working with this menu system:

  • FireFox 1.5
  • Opera 7.54, 8.5
  • Netscape 7
  • IE/Win 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 7 RC1
  • IE/Mac 5.0, 5.2
  • Safari 1.3.2

iCab and Opera 7.23 have bugs that I’ll need to iron out. Have yet to test Konqueror but hopeful since Safari works fine.

  1. I got several browser here on my PC so let me tell ya what works well. Please note these are all only Windows XP only that I’ve tested on.

Works flawlessly in Netscape 8, Opera 8.5, and Opera 8.

Although in Opera 9 on the menus in the right light green box (nice colors by the way!) when I hover over the horizontal menu the paragraph above it removes the padding/margin between it and the vertical menu above. Most likely not a major issue at all.

Works great in Opera 7.02 but the horizontal menu in the right light green box the sub menus appear offset. They right sided border of the sub menus don’t match up with the parent menu option it goes with. It seems that its applying the horizontal menu styles from the left box menu as the sub menus appear to the right of the parent by about 10/20 pixels or so. So instead of something like this:

    1 2 3
    2(submenu)
    2(submenu)

    I’m getting this:

    1 2 3
    2(submenu)
    2(submenu)

On my version of IE6 I’m getting some strange behavior. For example, the “Layouts” menu option in each menu appears with a text decoration of underline. Sometimes the icons (especially on the menu on the right light green box) appear and disappear. I’m sure you are adding the icon on the :hover state so its obviously flickering in IE but I know you are aware of that IE bug. Although I don’t understand why sometimes the icons in the menus that have sub menus disappear and appear randomly. For example, I just hovered over the Blog (in the vertical menu in the right light green box) and the icon disappeared. I waited several seconds still didn’t come up as I navigated through its sub menu. I hovered off of it to type this message and then it reappeared after a few seconds. Gotta to hate IE no? Hope this helps out.

  2. Sorry about my lame visual example above, I thought these comments would also be set up to not only replace line breaks but also replaces multiple spaces with tabs. If you look at the example above instead of the submenus of menu 2 lining up with the parent menu 2 it’ll be offset more to the right (between menu 2 and 3) by about I’d say 10 or 20 pixels.
